X-Men: Days of Future Past (Bryan Singer) - 2014

This movie takes us back to 1973 with Hugh Jackman in full Wolverine-angst to save the world for all mutants.  President Richard Nixon (Mark Camacho) wants a squadron of giant, mutant robots to defend him from his enemies and the dwarf-scientist (Peter Dinklage) is the guy with the ability to do just that.  Fortunately, there are some past and future mutants who plan to thwart the mutant-killers including Jennifer Lawrence in blue-skin, Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellan/Michael Fassbender).  If Jackman can go back to 1973, why didn't he also go back to 1963 to save JFK (who may also have been a mutant) and preclude the dysfunctional Nixon administration?  This could be grist for a future travel through time.  Technical advisor Stan Lee uses this time-travel scenario to attempt to resolve the multiple inconsistencies that have been introduced during 40 years of Marvel comics.  The special effects here are as good as any to date.  Stay to the end of the credits for the next sequel teaser.  [JAM 6/6/2014]
