Sex and the City (2008)

I saw most of this movie on HBO in the hotel room.  The movie is about four professional women who live lavish lifestyles in New York City and never seem to spend much time on their careers.  I missed the opening but it seems that some guy named "Big" got cold feet and left Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) at the altar.  Then, Carrie had sad-face for the next 90 minutes of the movie covering several months.  Her friends also have mostly unhappy relationships during this time but try to turn Carrie's frown upside-down by spending lots of money at shops, restaurants and a drop-everything-and-go vacation to Mexico.

I am sure that all of this is very entertaining to some people, but I could have used a car chase or an alien invasion in there somewhere.  The only special effects in this movie are the gift-wrapped, Louis Vuitton handbag and the $500 blue pumps.  This is the ultimate "chick-movie" with a happily-ever-after ending but I have the feeling that these women will never be satisfied with their relationships with men.
