Ocean's Eleven (Steven Soderbergh) - 2001
Did we really need a remake of the 1960 Frank Sinatra (1915-1998) movie? The glitzy town (Las Vegas) is the star of the movie but the Mission:Impossible-style screenplay is just not believable. Recidivist George Clooney is so suave but are we supposed to applaud a gang that makes a $100 million heist just because they are clever? None of it makes much sense especially the Julia Roberts character who would suddenly forgive her criminal ex-husband just because her current beau loves money more than her. This is a movie with an all-star cast and no other reason to exist. We was robbed. [JAM 8/24/2010]
