My One And Only (Richard Loncraine) - 2009

The star of this show is the 1953 Cadillac Eldorado that takes Renee Zellweger and her two teenage sons (Logan Lerman and Mark Rendall) from New York to Boston to Pittsburgh to St. Louis to Los Angeles in search of a new daddy.  Kevin Bacon is the womanizing band leader who causes the road trip.  The best part of the movie is the look and feel of the wonderful 1950s.  Ms. Zellweger is perfectly cast as the unskilled mother trying to find a new home for her family.  The story is loosely based on a year in the life of actor George Hamilton.  Lerman and Rendall are quite believable as brothers of different fathers who tolerate the eccentricities of their desperate mother.  This is a nice movie that manages to entertain without car chases and gratuitous violence.
