The Kids Are All Right (Lisa Cholodenko) - 2010

Yes, the kids are all right but the adults not so much.  Annette Bening and Julianne Moore play a gay couple who have teenage children (Mia Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson) by a single unknown sperm donor.  The kids get curious and make contact with the donor (Mark Ruffalo) introducing conflict into the family.  Bening is the dominant "mom" who supports the family through her medical practice.  She does not like the fifth-wheel in the family relationship but the other three are OK with him until Mark and Julianne get real friendly.  The message here is that families take all shapes and that children of gay families can be well-adjusted.  In this case, the kids have learned to tolerate their well-meaning but somewhat dysfunctional "moms."
