Mad #561 (Suzie Hutchinson) - Suzie Hutchinson Issue - February 2020

Credit should be given where credit is due.  Art Director Hutchinson and four other staffers did a great job of putting together one more issue of MAD.  This one is certainly worth the price of my subscription.  And, the Usual Gang of Idiots proved that they have the technical competence to produce quality work with a minimum of editorial interference.  This issue contained only twelve pages of reprinted material.  But, these were presented in a clever manner that is perfectly appropriate for the theme of the issue: "The Dumbest People, Events and Things."  The highlights of the issue (for me) are: "Star Wars Funnies" by Kerry Callen; the three-part "Spy vs. Spy" adventure by Peter Kuper; "Inaction Comics" by Desmond Devlin and Kerry Callen, exposing the evilness of Senator Mitch McConnell from Kentucky; The "Game of Joe" by Amanda Stelberg and Laurie Greasley; "Madame Pus-sauds Anti-Vax Museum by Sarah Hutto and Tom Richmond; and the excellent fold-in by Johnny Sampson.  Nobody knows how many more new issues we will see so let us enjoy them while we can.  Dick DeBartolo's "Target of Speculation" is the perfect 20th dumb thing to sum the feelings of MAD fans.  [JAM 12/10/2019]
