Mad #534 (John Ficarra) - Minions Issue - August 2015

The Minions, undocumented and underpaid workers, made their first appearance in the 2010 animated movie, Despicable Me for the evil Gru (Steve Carell).  The Minions stole the show and did it again in Despicable Me 2 (2013).  They finally got their own movie to be released in July 2015.  And, to prove they have arrived, Minion Alf by Mark Fredrickson is the star of the cover for Mad #534.  Inside, they appear in John Caldwell's "When Minions Go Really, Really Bad" and Anton Emdin's excellent double-splash for "Despicable People Live-Tweet 'Minions'" (including Bill Cosby, Brisn Williams, Dr. Oz, et al.  Other notable features of the issue are "How the GOP Plans to Get the Latino Vote" by Matt Lassen & Ward Sutton; the return of Bitterman; Arnie Kogen's parody of Ray Donovan ("Ray Drearyman") with Tom Richmond's boxing tribute to Jack Davis; John Martz' double-splash of a "... Summer Music Festival"; the return of Planet Tad; and some amazing superhero paintings by Hermann Mejia ("Fashion Police Takes on Avengers Age of Ultron").  Cartoon and comic book stars rule this issue.  [JAM 6/14/2015]
