Mad #530 (John Ficarra) - Doug Gilford Issue - December 2014

I am certain that Devlin Devlin's parodies of Orange is the New Black ("Orange is the New Blecch") and TMZ ("Mad Deconstructs TV Talk Shows") are excellent but I have never watched those shows so how would I know?  After reading those articles, I believe that I have made wise decisions.  However, I found something I liked on page 8 ("Results of the Fundalini Readers' Poll").  Artist Anton Emdin pays tribute to all Mad fans with his caricature of Doug Gilford being interviewed by writer Dick DeBartolo.  Doug's friend and co-producer (Alan Bernstein) of When We Went MAD is the one struggling to free himself from a straight jacket.  Note that Mr. DeBartolo is taking his notes in a crossword puzzle book.  The interviewee (Doug) is the webmaster (since 1997) of "Doug Gilford's Mad Cover Site" (, the most complete Mad reference site available on the internet.  Mr. Gilford has also been recognized as the "Mad Historian" by Mad staffers who constantly use the site for reference.  Other excellent articles in the issue are ...  (Who am I kidding?)  It's all downhill after page 8.  [JAM 10/16/2014]
