Mad #487 (John Ficarra) - Pulitzer Prize Issue - March 2008

For this issue, Mad editors hired ten Pulitzer-Prize-winning political cartoonists to draw their view of "Why George W. Bush is in Favor of Global Warming: A Mad Expose".  The best one was by Joel Pett who shows W with his Netflix collection that includes: "CIA Torture 3", "Osama Gone Wild", "Waterboard World", and "Gitmo' Better Blues".  The worst of the ten was by Michael Ramirez who completely ignored the subject because he would never ever draw anything negative about a Republican.  Continuing the political theme, Jeff Kruse and Drew Friedman offered their "Extremist Makeover Political Edition" wherein six top presidential candidates prove their ability to contradict themselves.  Who would have guessed?  There are also two excellent parodies in the issue: "Zeroes" with drawings by Tom Richmond; and "American Gagster" with drawings by Mort Drucker.  But, the caricature award for the issue goes to Hermann Mejia ("If Classic Movie Scenes Were Filmed Today") for his amazing drawings of 20 actors, past and present.  [JAM 12/2/2014]
