Mad #336 (Nick Meglin and John Ficarra) - Marla Weisenborn Issue - June 1995

Dave Berg was the king of lame jokes.  He was also an excellent artist who always included the Mad staff in his "Lighter Side" panels.  In this issue, new production assistant, Marla Weisenborn gets the Berg treatment as the butt of a typical joke attributed to veteran art directot, Leonard Brenner.  Co-editor John Ficarra and production editor Tom Nozkowski are observers as is the framed Bill Gaines.  The other co-editor, Nick Meglin gets his own really bad tennis joke in separate panels.  I would have preferred that Berg had done more of the artwork for articles written by Mad writers with modern senses of humor.  Dave Berg (Roger Kaputnik) and his doctor can also be found in "Lotus & Cluck."  General Manager Annie Gaines can be found at the top of the Statue of Liberty.

The best articles in the issue are the parody of television show Lois & Clark ("Lotus & Cluck") by Arnie Kogen and Angelo Torres, and the in-depth analysis of rap music by Desmond Devlin ("Mad Look at the World of Rap") augmented by the excellent illustrations of newcomer, Kyle Baker who became better known for his graphic novels and Plastic Man.  Baker's drawings have appeared in only seven issues of Mad.
