Mad #334 (Nick Meglin and John Ficarra) - Mike Slaubaugh Issue - March/April 1995

In a letter published in this issue, Mike reminded Mad editors that Dave Berg was nearing 300 consecutive issue appearances and that Sergio Aragones was reaching his 200th appearance.  Berg's streak continued until issue number 356.  Aragones has now (through Mad #516) made 440 total appearances and is second only to Al Jaffee who has 467.  Mike Slaubaugh's excellent list of Mad statistics can be found at http://users.ipfw.edu/slaubau/mad.htm.  Mike is an Associate Professor of Accounting (of course) at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne and an avid long-distance runner.

Mike Snider wrote "The Republican Party's Contract with America" and artist Drew Friedman added the double-splash page showing 36 Republicans including Adolf Hitler, Boris Badenov, Forrest Gump, Goofy, Darth Vader, Joe Camel, Jim Varney (1949-2000) as Ernest P. Worrell, Beavis & Butthead, Alfred E. Neuman, Hannibal Lecter and the KKK.  Dan Quayle is holding a balloon.  The other great double-splash page in the issue is "Real-Life Superheroes at Comic Book Conventions" drawn by Al Jaffee and written by Desmond Devlin. Look for Charlie Brown, Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny and Marty Feldman (1934-1982) as Igor in Young Frankenstein; Mort Drucker plugged the new book by Frank Jacobs (Pitiless Parodies) in Stan Hart's "Quease Show."
