Mad #314 (Nick Meglin and John Ficarra) - Buttman Issue - October 1992

Mad celebrated the blockbuster Batman Returns with a seven-page movie parody by Stan Hart and Mort Drucker.  This was the first seven-page movie parody since the Hart-Drucker parody ("Battyman") in Mad #289.  Drucker also drew the cover showing Alfred E. Neuman giving Michael Keaton the special Batman cut.  In addition, Mort Drucker fans were given a special treat with the double-splash page ("New Twists on Old Jobs") featuring 26 popular comedians of the day.  Page 22: Paula Poundstone, Jerry Seinfeld, Whoopie Goldberg, Robin Williams, Emo Philips, Eddie Murphy, Joan Rivers, (guy next to Rivers), George Burns (1896-1996), Judy Tenuta, Jay Leno, Louie Anderson and Gilbert Gottfried.  Page 23: Andrew Dice Clay, Carol Leifer, (guy in helmet), Richard Lewis, Yakov Smirnoff, Stephen Wright, George Carlin (1937-2008), Dennis Wolfberg (1946-1994), (person wearing "Twisted Sister" shirt), Rodney Dangerfield, Elayne Boosler, Rita Rudner and Garry Shandling.

Writer Tom Koch tried to predict the future with "Why the 21st Century May Be Even Worse Than This One!"  He was right on the money with earnings, TV channels and Michael Jackson (1958-2009).  Some of the others remain to be seen.  [JAM 3/13/2012]
