Mad #294 (Nick Meglin and John Ficarra) - Dorky Housecall Issue - April 1990

Doogie Howser, M.D. ran for four seasons (1989-1993) on ABC starring Neil Patrick Harris as a teenage doctor who 16 when the series began.  The Mad parody title ("Dorky Housecall, M.D.") was used as the actual title of episode 95 (of 97) in 1993.  Dick DeBartolo wrote the parody but did not get any writing credit for episode 95.  After the series was cancelled, Harris continued his performing career in television, movies, theater and host of several award shows.  Harris announced that he was a gay man in 2006 but has continued to play a variety of straight roles including the sexual maniac is the bizarre Harold & Kumar movies.  Artist Angelo Torres filled this one with every corny doctor joke.

In his ongoing attack on Senator Jesse Helms (1921-2008), Al Jaffee identifies Helms as the Time "Idiot of the Year" in "Do You Really Need to Know ..." [JAM 12/15/2011]
