Mad #184 (Albert Feldstein) - Arbor Day Issue - July 1976

In his second Mad cover, artists Bob Jones drew 13 dogs but just one tree.

The movie parody of the issue was "One Cuckoo Flew Over The Rest."  The 1962 novel (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest) by Ken Kesey was excellent and the Milos Forman movie won five major Academy Awards including best picture of 1975.  The richness of the movie was perfect for the talents of Mort Drucker.  His drawings of Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher), McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) and others are uncanny.  He brings the classic movie right back to those of us who enjoyed it.  [JAM 7/6/2010]
