Mad #132 (Albert Feldstein) - Condemner Reports Issue - January 1970

The "Checkmate Mock III" toaster was rated "Not Acceptable -Rotten" in the sewing machine test, etc.  The entire Mad staff participated in this parody of Consumer Reports with photos by Irving Schild.  The worst performer in the stretch socks test was "Hand-Huggers" that were "not recommended for summer wear."  For future test programs, the magazine reported that 1,289,876 individuals have volunteered to participate in the upcoming birth control pill study. The Prohias white spy is in the picket line (page 17) and the authors of two books about cigarette smoking are "Earl E. Graves" and "Paul Bearer" (page 29).
