2006

When we moved to Cerritos in 1988, one of our neighbors, Bill Cole (the tall one in the back) invited me to join his golfing foursome which became a fivesome.  That was the year that I also met Bill DeHuff, standing in the front.  Bill D. was a paratrooper during World War II where he saw a lot of action, including D-Day on June 6, 1944.  After the war, he worked in construction selling heavy equipment for Manitowoc.  I was a witness to his hole-in-one on the 12th hole at Los Amigos Golf Course in Downey, CA.  Bill DeHuff died in 2008 at the age of 88.  The other two regular golfers in our group are Stan Zaan and Ray Olsen.
