1957

This was my sixth grade photo for my last year of elementary school.  I was also bowling every Saturday morning in the junior leagues (since 1956) at Norwalk Bowl which is now known as Keystone Lanes.  Hobbies were yo-yos, marbles, coin & stamp collecting, riding bicycles, reading comic books and collecting baseball cards.  After school and during the summer, every boy in the neighborhood was involved in team sports.  We organized games and roamed the neighborhood without adult supervision.  Our parents would yell at us from the back porch when it was time to come home for dinner.  When school was out during the summer, the city sponsored sports and activities at the elementary schools.  I played second base on the Glazier softball team that played against Nuffer and Elmcroft.  Our team finished second in the three-school league.  I made the team's only double play during the season.

At Glazier, I was a volunteer safety monitor and teacher aide for the lower grades.  [JAM 6/6/2020]
