All the Songs: The Story Behind Every Beatles Release (Jean-Michel Guesdon and Philippe Margotin) - Black Dog & Leventhal Publishers - 2013 - 671 pages

Every Beatles fan, and all of us who lived through their music in real time during our formative years, owe a debt of gratitude to authors Guesdon & Margotin for this wonderful historical volume.  In my mind, the book is second only to The Beatles Anthology as a reference book for the group and their influence on the culture of the 1960s.  This book dragged me through high school and college again.  The book consolidates data, quotes and external aspects of all 213 songs in the order that they were offered for sale.  I dare anyone to read this without gaining respect for the methods and talents of those who made it happen in just one short decade.  I knew many of the stories already but also learned much, much more.  The authors researched every known book about the group and presented an overall picture of each session although there were often conflicting opinions of what actually happened.  It was a long and winding road.  [JAM 1/28/2021]
